Together we can help labor establish its rightful place in our Capitol
We have the opportunity to permanently remind Capitol visitors, including school children, of the important role labor has played in our state.
The Legislature and the Governor authorized placing a bust of Nellie Stone Johnson, a nationally-renowned labor and civil rights leader, in a prominent spot in the Capitol. But we must raise the matching funds for the first bust in our Capitol recognizing Nellie Stone Johnson’s legacy of firsts:
- The first prominent labor leader
- The first woman activist/leader
- The first education leader
- The first Minnesota-born African-American civil rights leader
If we all contribute, we can make sure that Nellie Stone Johnson ad her legacy are recognized in our Capitol.
